Below you'll find a number of links to various and changing sources of inspiration in my life. From people and ideas that have influenced my profession to my recreation, these entities possess inspiring philosophies and exude exemplary attitudes. Feel free to love them or hate them. Just don't walk the path of indifference.

Remember: Everyday, something goes on somewhere that pushes and stretches the film of the bubble in which we live. That bubble is our perception, our imagination and our experience. Like time and space, this bubble too has an end. Yet, we know not what that end is for when we reach it, it recedes only farther away, perpetually beyong our grasp. Like time and space, we know not into what realm it expands into.

Alex Grey is an artist who, along with many others, flirts with ideas that challenge and often escape comprehension, yet somehow make sense at the same time.

What is good education?

The International Center for Leadership in Education researches and strives to propogate two main themes. First, what is it to be successful on our planet today? What does a successful person know? What can they do? Second, what schools best equip students for success? How do they do it? How do we know? Why? What? Where? When? How?

Ben Franklin

I'd let his name stand alone, only I sadly realize that because he lived hundreds of years ago, we think his usefulness has withered. I was shocked by the PBS show I saw (I was one of the ignorant ones) on his life and accomplishments. His modus operandi were nothing short of inspiring.

Blue Planet - Seas of Life

I'm not sure, but I think you don't have to be a scientist to appreciate the love for our planet and the humility with which Discovery approached this two year project. The footage is breathtaking, the music is that of wonder, and the narration is right on the money. Just "watch the clip" on the left hand side of the page to which this link takes you.

Detroit Science Center

If you haven't yet, come see this place! It's designed for everyone, is very hands on and has oodles of entertainment value. Located on Wayne state University's campus, DSC has convenient and safe parking at reasonable prices. IMAX and Plane-arium are two al a carte exhibits that are worth checking out. Plan a party there!

DIA!

Who could ignore the Detroit Institue of Arts, also on WSU's campus (adjacent to DSC)? Even if you consider yourself a knucklehead when it comes to culture, show up for First Fridays each month (guess which day of the week!). They have a musical guest perform something undoubtedly cool at about 7pm. They also have a cash bar so you can get "tuned up" to facilitate appreciation of renaissance cherub oil paintings (or at least lie and say you're tuned up so friends don't think you're a fruit).

Sierra Club

Listen, you may hear or see what you consider to be a "bleeding heart" representative of this organization on mainstream radio or TV. YO! Ever considered that this stereotype is all an ignoramus producer can concieve of sending through the airways? Face it, this group does its homework over and over and over again. Heck, they ought to BE the darn EPA! You don't think a hydrogen economy will support jobs? Maybe you should do YOUR homework.

Burningman

Ignore this link if you're narrow minded, ignorant, judgemental, uninspired, impassionate, apathetic, self centered, and/or pessimistic. You won't like it. If you think you're none of the above, click away. If you don't like it after clicking, you're one of the above, but there's hope in that you aspire to be free of these binds. Hey, since when could a true visceral experience be summed up on the internet. What, you appreciate Glacier or Alex Grey or Blue Planet now? I rest my case! Ask someone who's been and cares enough about you to bring you with them next time. You'll be surprised, no matter what you think you know or are comfortable with.

NASCAR!

HA! I'm really not kidding, though I understand it's not for everybody. I just choose to support sports (most of them involve motors) that represent positive American values. I don't mean racism, spousal abuse, and beastiality, either. That would be a stereotype of the FANS, not the athletes. These boys respect their mothers and wives, go to church AT LEAST every Sunday, gives gobs of cash to charities, talk extremely little smack considering the fact that they're each one of 43 individual ON THE PLANET who can do what they do - simply drive heavy, naturally aspirated small blocks with Allison trannys to the ragged edge of sanity where the machine acts more like a jet ski than any car you've ever driven as hard as you've ever driven it. KEEP DIGGIN!
